North Lombok, insightnusantara.com – The North Lombok Regency Government (KLU), through the Department of Tourism, organized the Gawe Beleq Dayan Gunung event, held over two days, December 23-24, 2024, at the North Lombok Regent’s Office Courtyard. The event was officially opened by the Regent of North Lombok, H. Djohan Sjamsu, SH, marked by the beating of the Gendeng Beleq drum alongside Deputy Regent Danny Karter Febrianto, R.ST, M.Eng, and members of the North Lombok Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda).
In his opening remarks, Regent Djohan expressed his appreciation to all parties who contributed to the event's success.
“This event not only showcases the art and culture of Sasak but also strengthens our identity as a community rich in traditions and local wisdom,” he said.
The Regent emphasized that Gawe Beleq reflects a shared commitment to preserving ancestral cultural heritage. The event is expected to serve as a medium for cultural preservation while boosting the tourism sector in North Lombok by involving local communities and highlighting unique cultural features.
“Let us make North Lombok a premier tourist destination. We offer not only extraordinary natural beauty but also authentic cultural richness,” he added.
Djohan also called for harmony between tradition and modern technological advancements, ensuring that the community adapts without losing its fundamental values.
Meanwhile, the Head of the North Lombok Department of Tourism, Denda Dewi Treni Budiastuti, SE, MM, stated that the primary objective of Gawe Beleq is to preserve the traditions and culture of North Lombok, known as Gumi Tioq Tata Tunaq.
“We hope this event attracts tourists to visit North Lombok, particularly the tourism villages throughout the region,” she explained.
The event also featured local MSMEs (Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises), providing them with an opportunity to showcase and promote their products.
“This is our effort to make North Lombok’s MSMEs more widely recognized while supporting the growth of the local economy,” she concluded. (zett)
