Mataram, insightnusantara.com – Governor of West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), Dr. H. Lalu Muhamad Iqbal, officially inaugurated the Ogoh-Ogoh parade as part of the Nyepi celebrations in front of the Cakranegara Barat Subdistrict Office, Mataram, on March 28, 2025. He warmly extended his best wishes to the Hindu community for Nyepi and the Saka New Year 1947.
"This is my first time attending this ceremony. I sincerely hope that from now on, this celebration will not only belong to the Hindu community but to all NTB residents," he stated.
Governor Iqbal, commonly known as Miq Iqbal, also expressed his hope that in the coming years, the celebration would become even more meaningful, offering spiritual enrichment not only to Hindus but to all NTB residents.
"Let us show the world that the people of NTB are peace-loving, deeply understand tolerance, and uphold solidarity. Tonight, as we begin the sacred observance of Nyepi, let us do so with solemnity and devotion," he emphasized.
Meanwhile, Anak Agung Made Djelantik, Advisor to the Lombok Hindu Youth Alliance, expressed his gratitude to the *pecalang* (traditional security personnel), the organizing committee, and all parties involved in ensuring the event ran smoothly and peacefully.
He highlighted that this annual event is a testament to unity and tolerance, a shared pride among the people of NTB. Additionally, he noted that the celebration serves not only as an artistic and cultural appreciation but also as a means to boost the local economy.
"Through this moment, let us continue to nurture togetherness and strengthen interfaith tolerance," he concluded. (zett)
